The 10 Year U.S. Treasury Yield is an important benchmark in the balance between equities investors (our markets) and the bond market. When yield approaches pivotal percentages, currently 3.0% for example, money moves out of the ES and into this market. Very important to keep an eye on.
The Volatility Index or 'VIX' is something we pay very close attention to. As a general rule it moves slowly up and down. The VIX represents opportunity but also can come back to kill you with unanticipated stop outs, even when you are making the right decisions.
This page is a resource list for a host of available news feeds, almost all of which are free. No matter which source you use, it is extremely unwise to freelance trade any market without at least some sort of news or event portal you are keeping an eye on.
